Product manager – Video Computing Platform Hardware – Dallas
We are seeking an experienced and strategic VCP (Video Computing Platform) Hardware
Product Manager to oversee the development, integration, and lifecycle of hardware solutions that complement our VCP platform. This role requires a deep understanding of video
surveillance hardware, including cameras, NVRs, cloud gateways, and edge computing
devices. You will work closely with engineering, sales, marketing, and customers to define,
develop, and bring to market high-performance, scalable, and secure VCP hardware
solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Strategy & Roadmap
Define and execute the hardware product roadmap aligned with the company’s VCP
strategy.
Research market trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs to inform
hardware development.
Identify key hardware components, such as IP cameras, NVRs, GPUs, cloud
gateways, and AI accelerators.
Drive hardware innovation, ensuring integration with VCP platforms, cloud services,
and AI analytics.
Hardware Development & Integration
Work with hardware engineers, suppliers, and OEM/ODM partners to define product
specifications.
Oversee the design, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing of VCP-compatible
hardware.
Ensure seamless hardware-software integration, optimizing performance for video
processing, AI analytics, and edge computing.
Collaborate with firmware and software teams to enhance device interoperability with
ONVIF, RTSP, and cloud VSaaS.
Customer & Market Research
Engage with enterprise clients, system
integrators, and security professionals to gather insights.
Conduct market analysis on industry trends, such as cloud VSaaS, AI-driven
surveillance, and cybersecurity.
Define customer personas and use cases for different hardware solutions (e.g., retail,
smart cities, critical infrastructure).
Vendor & Supply Chain Management
Establish and manage relationships with hardware manufacturers, chipset vendors,
and OEM partners.
Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure component
availability and cost efficiency.
Define and optimize bill of materials (BOM), cost structure, and pricing strategy.
Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
Own the entire lifecycle of VCP hardware, from concept to end-of-life (EOL).
Monitor product performance, reliability, and user feedback for continuous
improvement.
Plan firmware updates, security patches, and software compatibility enhancements.
Go-to-Market (GTM) & Sales Enablement
Define hardware pricing, positioning, and competitive differentiation.
Work with sales and marketing teams to create product messaging, datasheets, and
technical collateral.
Train sales engineers, solution architects, and channel partners on VCP hardware
solutions.
Support RFPs, enterprise deals, and strategic partnerships for hardware integration
projects.
Compliance & Security
Ensure hardware compliance with industry standards such as FCC, CE, NDAA, UL,
and ONVIF.
Work with cybersecurity teams to implement best practices in firmware security, data
encryption, and network protection.
Address privacy concerns related to video storage, AI analytics, and cloud data
governance.
Required Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related
field.
5+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on video surveillance,
hardware, or IoT devices.
Proven track record in developing and launching hardware products for VCP, security,
or cloud environments.
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of IP cameras, NVRs, edge computing, and video processing
hardware.
Knowledge of video streaming protocols (RTSP, ONVIF, H.264, H.265, WebRTC).
Familiarity with AI-driven video analytics, GPU acceleration, and computer vision
applications.
Experience with embedded systems, firmware development, and IoT security.
Proficiency in hardware testing, debugging, and certification processes.
Soft Skills:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong cross-functional collaboration with engineering, sales, and marketing teams.
Ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong project management and stakeholder alignment capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in cloud-connected video surveillance solutions (VSaaS).
Knowledge of AI/ML applications in security, such as facial recognition and object
detection.
Understanding of supply chain constraints and hardware production cycles.
Familiarity with NIST, SOC 2, and NDAA security compliance for video surveillance.
